Kathleen Conlin is a professor and holds the Barnard Hewitt Chair in Directing at UIUC. She is past President of both the National Theatre Conference and the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Kathleen Conlin is the former Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts at UIUC and a former board member of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans, the National Theatre Conference, URTA and the Ohio Arts Council. She previously headed two Theatre departments: the School of Theatre at Ohio University and the Department of Theatre at the Ohio State University. She continues her professional work as casting director and associate artistic director for the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespearean Festival and free-lances with other professional theatres. Kathleen Conlin is an active member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, a professional union. On campus, she is a member of the Athletic Board and has served on an array of campus committees and projects. Kathleen Conlin was named a Fellow of the American Theatre in ceremonies held at the Kennedy Center in 2005.
