René Chadwick (Costume Designer and Hair/Makeup Master) joined the UIUC Theatre faculty in the fall of 2004 to teach costume and makeup courses. She is also the Makeup/Hair Master for Krannert Center. René received a BS from the
University of Utah in organizational communications and an MFA in costume design from UIUC. While at the University of Utah, René completed an internship in makeup and wigs with the Utah Opera Company. She has designed professionally for the Opera Division of UIUC's School of Music, Nashville Ballet Company, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, the American Negro Playwrights Theatre, Epiphany Dance Company, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, Parkland College, The Station Theatre, and the UIUC based Summer Studio Theatre Company. One of Ms. Chadwick’s designs has been featured at Epcot Center in Disney World. René has also designed and taught costumes and makeup for academic venues including: UIUC, Tennessee State University, University of Utah, Belmont University, Tennessee’s Govenor’s School for the Arts, O'More College of Design and Middle Tennessee State University. While at MTSU, she accompanied a theatre group to Finland, Russia, and Latvia, where she had an opportunity to teach master classes in costume design. It’s a wild ride and I’m lovin’ it.
